To commemorate World English Language Day on April 23, a talk show was organised in the school premises with great enthusiasm and academic fervour. The event aimed to highlight the importance of the English language in the modern globalised world and to encourage students to develop confidence and competence in communication.
The highlight of the programme was the presence of Dr. Aparna, the Chief Speaker, who has retired from her illustrious position as the Head of the Department of Languages and Haryanvi Culture and Joint Director of the Directorate of Human Resource Management at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. Dr. Aparna has been a beacon of excellence in the field of education, known for her profound expertise in phonetics, communicative English, linguistics, and her passion for American drama and post-colonial Indian literature.
In her inspiring address, Dr. Aparna guided the students on the significance of the English language in today’s global world. She emphasised how English acts as a bridge across cultures, opens doors to higher education and career opportunities, and enhances confidence and personality. She also motivated students to focus on correct pronunciation, clarity of expression, and continuous reading habits to master the language.
The event also featured an engaging declamation contest for Classes VI to XII, where students eloquently expressed their views on varied topics. The participants impressed the audience with their fluency, confidence, and love for the English language.
Adding a creative dimension to the programme, students presented a captivating non-verbal skit based on Shakespeare’s “The Seven Ages of Man”, which beautifully depicted the stages of human life through expressions and movements, leaving the audience spellbound.
The programme concluded on a motivating note by the Principal of the school, Mr. Dinesh Mehta, who expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Aparna for her enlightening and inspiring address. He thanked her for sharing her vast knowledge and experience, which left a lasting impact on the students. He also motivated the students to recognise the importance of the English language in shaping their academic journey and future careers.
